Job Opportunities

Non-French people are encouraged to apply whether they speak French or not. A good level of English is required. In general, we look for people who are creative and have good programming skills.

Research Scientists

You can apply at Aviz as a Research Scientist every year between mid-December and mid-February, for a position starting the next September. INRIA Research Scientists hold a permanent (tenured) position. Your application will be examined by an independent scientific commission at INRIA. PhD Students

You can apply as a PhD student under the supervision of either Jean-Daniel Fekete or Evelyne Lutton, and possibly under the co-supervision of another Research Scientist at Aviz (list here). Funding comes from either:

INRIA (bourses CORDI). Application is between February and May every year. See information for 2011.
University (allocations de l'École Doctorale). Application deadline is in June every year. See information for 2011.

Internships

Aviz often has funding for a few internships. In France, summer is not the best time for an internship but summer internships are nonetheless possible if they are arranged long enough in advance.

Development of a multi-touch gesture set for data visualizations: (supervised by Petra Isenberg)
The goal of this project is to find and implement a gesture set which allows for the manipulation of data visualizations using a specific set of interaction techniques across different types of data representations. Please contact us if you are interested in this project.

Development of multi-touch data selection for (collaborative) data visualization: (supervised by Petra Isenberg)
The focus of this project is to develop techniques which allow the selection of data items in visual data representations using multi-touch. The problems of allowing multiple people to select data items concurrently on the same visualization should also be taken into account.
